Back to the Basics!

We often focus on more advanced affiliate strategies, so today we want to go back and cover some fundamentals. Keep reading to make sure you’ve got the basics covered!
Affiliate Account

After becoming an affiliate, one of the first things you should do is log into your affiliate account to view your affiliate link, banners and commission table. To begin, click the ‘MY ACCOUNT’ link on the upper right side of the Sigma website. Log into your account and click the ‘Visit My Affiliate Page’ under the Affiliate Information category.

You can now view your clicks, sales and commissions on the payment table. If you would like to view sales from a specific month, simply select the month and year from the drop down menu and hit the ‘Go’ button.

Your affiliate link is found at the bottom of the page and can be pasted into blog posts, YouTube videos, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Banners

For automated banners containing your affiliate link, log into your affiliate account and click the ‘Generate Banner Ads’ link.

To post a banner in Blogger - From your ‘Overview’ page, click the ‘Layout’ link on the left side of the screen, followed by the ‘Add a Gadget’ link (in the location where you would like your banner). From the list of gadgets, select the ‘HTML/JavaScript’ option. From your Sigma affiliate account, copy and paste the HTML code for the banner you would like to use and click the ‘Save’ button.

To post a banner in Wordpress - From your ‘Dashboard’ page, click on the ‘Appearance’ drop-down menu and select ‘Widgets’. Choose the location where you would like your banner to be posted (Sidebar, Featured Sidebar, Footer, etc). Once you have picked a location, select the ‘Text’ drop-down menu and paste the HTML banner code from your Sigma affiliate account.

We also have a variety of banners available on the Sigma Affiliate Blog. It is a great idea to update your blog with a new banner each time we release a new product, discount code, etc. To use one of these banners, simply right click on the banner you wish to use and save it to your computer. Similar to how you upload a banner using HTML code, log into your blog and select the ‘Widget’ function. Then, upload the image under the ‘Picture’ widget and insert your affiliate link as the URL.

YouTube

Along with sharing your affiliate link in your YouTube video info box, you can also permanently place your affiliate link on your channel’s main page (great affiliate strategy!). To do so, log into your YouTube account and click the ‘My Channel’ link. On the right side of your page, click the ‘Edit’ button. In the ‘Add a new link’ section, create the title for your link and paste your affiliate link into the ‘Custom URL’ section. Don’t forget to click the ‘Add’ button!

We hope covering the affiliate basics was helpful for you! Please comment below with any additional questions you may have!

    1. You only need to enter a SSN or Tax ID if you are a US citizen. If you are not a US citizen, you can write any number in that part of the application (123 will work!). Thanks!
