Incorrect Affiliate Assumptions

When you first hear the term “Affiliate Program”, you may have certain assumptions about what it means to be an affiliate. Today we're here to shine some light on incorrect affiliate assumptions. Keep reading to learn if your assumptions are fact or fiction!

1) Placing an affiliate banner on my blog is the best way to earn commission.
While you can definitely earn commission through an affiliate banner, there are more effective ways to generate affiliate sales. Product reviews, personal recommendations and using Sigma products in your tutorials are all great (and successful) affiliate strategies. If you want you to earn money as an affiliate, make sure your affiliate banner is supplemental to other affiliate strategies. Simply posting a banner and abandoning your affiliation is not the way to create sales!

2) Affiliates use spam to try to generate sales.
Not true! Every affiliate program should have a regulation in place against spamming (you can read ours here). The Sigma Affiliate Program is about sharing your honest and genuine opinions about our products, not bombarding others with your affiliate link. Don’t take your affiliation to this level, always remain a classy and tactful Sigma affiliate.

3) Becoming an affiliate is an easy way to get rich quick.
Some might think that earning money as an affiliate is easy and immediate. Unfortunately, this is not true. While many affiliate strategies are simple to implement, it does takes time to build your website traffic and a meaningful relationship with your followers. These are important factors that will lead to affiliate sales!

4) I can’t earn any real money being an affiliate.
This is definitely not true! We have affiliates who earn thousands of dollars a month in commission. As mentioned above, it takes time and commitment. Try setting monthly goals and closely monitoring the effectiveness of your affiliate strategies.
