Many of our affiliates use YouTube as their preferred marketing source. YouTube offers a variety of options for marketing Sigma and we are going to explain some different strategies you can utilize to increase affiliate sales and gain subscribers.
If you do not already have a YouTube channel, when creating one make sure your Channel Name is clear and includes keywords people may be searching. For example, if you want to attract viewers looking for beauty advice, try to include keywords such as beauty, makeup, cosmetics, etc. into your channel name and you will have a better chance of coming up in a YouTube search. Along with this, make sure your Channel Title coincides with your prospective audience. Your channel title will automatically default to your channel name, but can easily be changed in your Channel Settings:
As you can see from the above example, the channel title was changed from the default AffiliateTraining123 to Sigma Affiliate Training. Make sure to include spaces and capitalization whenever necessary. A clear and concise channel title is very important and will help you show up in keyword searches.
Once your channel name and title are set up, make sure to add your affiliate link to your About Me section, along with any other social media channels you use. You can do this by clicking on the Edit tab in your About Me section:
After your channel is set up and you are ready to begin uploading videos, you will want to add your affiliate link, keywords and tags in your video descriptions:
As you can see in the above example, the F80 brush is mentioned. We utilized deep-linking, which brings your viewer directly to the product, rather than the Sigma homepage. Make sure to deep-link every time you mention a specific product!
Along with this, if you are using a Sigma brush in a video, make sure to verbally mention the brush name to your viewers and list it in the description box. Being very specific with your viewers can greatly increase your chance of a sale and will help clear up any questions they may have.
Another piece of information you can add to your description box is our monthly discount code. This code is available on the Affiliate Blog and should always be promoted with your affiliate link! You can read a previous blog post here explaining why coupons are an important marketing strategy.
In the above example, we added Tags which will help your video show up in specific YouTube searches. Some examples we used were: Sigma brushes, Beauty, Makeup, Tutorial, Cosmetics. Be strategic when choosing your tags and try to think of very specific words that can narrow down your video in a search. YouTube will also suggest tags for you, which you can see illustrated above.
When it comes to the videos themselves, make sure to keep them short and entertaining. Depending on the video content, like a tutorial for example, your video may run a little longer, but try to keep videos less than 10 minutes to keep your viewers attention. With all the YouTube videos out there today, it is important to make yours stand out. If possible, upload videos with high quality sound and display.
One final tip is to SHARE your videos on all your social media platforms! Getting the word out about your videos is the best way to increase views. If you have a Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media platform listed below, you can simply share your video using the Share feature on YouTube:
We hope these strategies can help you become a successful affiliate on YouTube! As always, please feel free to contact the Sigma Affiliate Team with any questions you have at firstname.lastname@example.org. Which strategy are you going to implement?
